During extended talks at Akorda Palace, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and economic sectors.
President Tokayev confirmed that Kazakhstan is ready to supply goods worth at least $200 million to Iran, highlighting the need to diversify trade and strengthen ties in agriculture, transport, logistics, mining, medicine, and advanced technologies, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The leaders backed the creation of a Trade House of Kazakhstan in Tehran and emphasized enhancing the Kazakh-Iranian Business Council and Commerce and Industry Chamber.
Since January 2025, Iranian investments in Kazakhstan reached $17.8 million, supporting projects like a cheese plant in Almaty region and a leather processing factory in West Kazakhstan. Kazakh businesses are also active in Iran.
Both sides reaffirmed efforts to develop the International North-South Transport Corridor and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, noting that transport volumes along these routes rose 53 per cent in 10 months. Talks also covered Caspian Sea port projects, agriculture, energy, mining, digitalization, and AI cooperation.
