During his visit to Japan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the growing importance of trade, economic, and investment ties between Kazakhstan and Japan at the First Central Asia-Japan Dialogue Summit in Tokyo.
Highlighting Japan’s economic and technological achievements, Tokayev stressed the potential for comprehensive cooperation in the Central Asian region and expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to create favorable conditions for joint projects with Japanese partners, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
He outlined promising areas for Kazakh-Japanese collaboration and noted that mutual trade reached around $2 billion last year, with Kazakhstan supplying uranium, rare earth metals, and oil to Japan. Tokayev also highlighted Japan’s position as one of the largest investors in Kazakhstan, with total investments exceeding $8.5 billion, and praised the long-standing cooperation with leading Japanese corporations and support for Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises in Kazakhstan.
The president expressed confidence that the Central Asia-Japan Business Forum would strengthen B2B ties and result in concrete agreements. During the visit, more than 60 bilateral documents were signed, including commercial agreements valued at over $3.7 billion.
