Kazakhstan, Netherlands Seal €160 Million in New Deals as Trade Soars

Kazakhstan and the Netherlands have agreed to launch joint projects worth €160 million, marking a major boost in economic cooperation between the two countries.

The agreements were reached during the Kazakhstan-Netherlands Business Forum in Amsterdam, held as part of Kazakhstan’s trade and economic mission led by Trade and Integration Minister Arman Shakkaliyev, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Hosted on the sidelines of GreenTech Amsterdam 2026, the forum brought together hundreds of businesses and organizations from around the world, providing a platform for new partnerships in agriculture, logistics, technology, and industry.

The Netherlands remains one of Kazakhstan’s most important economic partners in the European Union. Bilateral trade surged by nearly 58% in the first two months of 2026, reaching $970 million, while Kazakh exports jumped 65% to more than $930 million.

“Today’s agreements demonstrate the strong mutual interest of the business communities of our two countries,” Shakkaliyev said, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s readiness to expand exports and attract new Dutch investment.

A key focus of the visit was strengthening agricultural cooperation. Discussions with Dutch organizations centered on seed production, certification systems, quality control, and the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies.

Transport and logistics also featured prominently on the agenda. During meetings at the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest seaport, officials explored ways to integrate more Kazakh products into European supply chains and expand the role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, or Middle Corridor, as a strategic trade link between Asia and Europe.

In another significant development, Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding with Damen Shipyards Group to establish a shipbuilding and ship repair cluster in the Mangystau region. The project is expected to include technology transfer, production localization, and workforce training.

Additional talks with Dutch companies focused on greenhouse farming, seed technologies, innovation, and investment opportunities.

The visit concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation across a range of sectors, including agriculture, logistics, critical minerals, advanced technologies, and international trade, further strengthening one of Kazakhstan’s fastest-growing partnerships in Europe.
