Kazakhstan, OSCE Strengthen Dialogue on Minority Rights and Inclusion

Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issetov has met with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp in Astana to discuss strengthening the integration of national minorities into Kazakhstan’s socio-economic and public life.

Key topics included the development of multilingual education, promotion of civic engagement, and increased representation of minority groups in public administration, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Issetov briefed the OSCE delegation on Kazakhstan’s ongoing political, economic, and social reforms, which aim to enhance the well-being of all citizens and promote an inclusive, multicultural society.

In turn, Kamp praised Kazakhstan’s model of interethnic harmony, highlighting its efforts to safeguard the linguistic and cultural rights of minority communities. He welcomed the outcomes of the country's inclusive policies and expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation in light of upcoming reform initiatives.

Kamp also outlined the OSCE’s strategic priorities in preventing interethnic tensions through early warning, open dialogue, and practical recommendations - tools he described as essential to long-term social stability.

The two sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their mutual commitment to protecting human rights, supporting national minorities, and promoting interethnic peace and understanding.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the eighth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which opened on September 17 in Astana. This year’s congress is held under the theme: “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future.”
