Kazakhstan Partners with SpaceX for Satellite Expansion

Kazakhstan plans to place three new Earth observation satellites into orbit in 2027 using a SpaceX launch vehicle, according to Chairman of Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary Kaiyrzhan Kozhayev.

Kozhayev said the satellites have already been assembled and tested in Astana. All required systems have been procured, and final equipment checks and firmware updates are currently underway, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

He added that trial tests are scheduled to begin in mid-year.

He also noted that Kazakhstan is looking ahead to 2029-2030, when it plans to launch three additional spacecraft to build a six-satellite constellation.

The new satellites will replace older systems previously developed with European partners. A SpaceX rocket was selected due to restrictions on the use of certain European components, while future launches are expected to take place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Currently, five Kazakh satellites are in orbit, with one-KazEOSat-2-already prepared for deorbiting.
