Kazakhstan Reaffirms Commitment to SCO Principles at Tianjin Meeting

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has taken part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The summit opened at the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin, China, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

In his address, President Tokayev expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for hosting the event and congratulated China on its successful chairmanship of the organization.

“Kazakhstan highly appreciates China’s consistent policy aimed at strengthening security, stability, economic cooperation, and cultural ties within the SCO framework,” he said.

The Kazakh leader underscored the symbolic importance of the summit, which coincides with two historic milestones: the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japanese militarism and the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II. These anniversaries, he noted, serve as reminders of the value of unity, solidarity, and the preservation of historical truth.

President Tokayev stressed that the SCO has proven itself as an effective and influential international organization. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the organization’s core principles, including support for a fair multipolar world order, respect for sovereignty, fair international trade, and mutually beneficial investment.

“The Organization’s priorities serve the noble goal of ensuring prosperity, peace, and sustainable development in the new technological era,” he said. “Kazakhstan remains committed to joint efforts against the ‘three evils’-terrorism, separatism, and extremism-and advocates strengthening the ‘Shanghai Spirit,’ which embodies international solidarity for global peace and security.”
