Kazakhstan has wrapped up its cotton harvest with record-breaking yields, boosted by modern agricultural technologies.
“Thanks to the introduction of advanced cultivation methods, including drip irrigation, some farms achieved yields of up to 5 c/ha,” Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov said, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
On average, cotton yields nationwide reached nearly 3 c/ha, with a total of 428,000 tons of raw cotton harvested - a 42 per cent increase over last year.
Saparov emphasized the role of government support in driving productivity, including early concessional lending totaling 1 trillion tenge for the first time, along with widespread use of 1.8 million tons of mineral fertilizers and an increase in elite seed use from 9.5 per cent to 11.5 per cent.
He called on local authorities to continue assisting farmers transition from traditional methods to advanced, efficient technologies.
This year, Kazakhstan also recorded record harvests of legumes and oil-bearing plants, highlighting a strong season for the country’s agriculture sector.
