Kazakhstan’s Forestry Investments Skyrocket Eightfold in 2025

Kazakhstan’s fixed-asset investment in forestry reached 8.8 billion tenge ($16.538 million) in January-September 2025, marking an eightfold increase compared to the same period last year.

The surge is driven by major state-backed programs like Zhasyl Qazaqstan (“Green Kazakhstan”) and the Two Billion Trees initiative, with government funding accounting for 60 per cent of total investments, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

While private sector contributions remain low, new investments focus on automation, modern equipment, and infrastructure, rather than expanding employment, which has declined to 1,800 workers from nearly 3,000 five years ago.

This rapid growth in forestry investment reflects Kazakhstan’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental modernization, coinciding with a broader push to attract $7.5 billion in agreements at the 8th Kazakhstan Global Investment Roundtable (KGIR 2025).
