Kazakhstan Sits on Massive Uranium Stockpile — Enough for 60 Years of Energy

Kazakhstan possesses approximately 1 million tons of natural uranium reserves, a volume sufficient to meet the country’s nuclear energy needs for more than six decades.

The figure was announced by Gumar Sergazin, Deputy Chairman of Kazakhstan's Atomic Energy Agency, who emphasized the country’s strong position in the global nuclear sector, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

“Kazakhstan has enough uranium to fully supply its national nuclear power plants. According to official data, our natural uranium reserves stand at about 1 million tons - a quantity that will last for more than 60 years,” Sergazin said.

He added that Kazakhstan is holding talks with Finland on potential uranium exports, noting that the European nation operates two nuclear power plants.

With these vast reserves, Kazakhstan ranks second globally in uranium resources, trailing only Australia, and continues to play a key role in ensuring global nuclear fuel security.
