President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed the Government to ensure full digitalization of Kazakhstan’s tax system as soon as possible.
Speaking at an expanded government meeting, the head of state stressed that the new tax and fiscal policy must be aimed at sustainable economic development and improving citizens’ well-being, rather than placing excessive pressure on businesses, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Tokayev noted that data from the Kazakh Ministry of Economy show tangible results already. Following the introduction of a new taxation regime for the self-employed, the number of officially registered taxpayers has increased by more than 180,000 people.
The president also cited government estimates indicating that tax reforms are expected to bring an additional 4.4 trillion tenge ($8.937 billion) into the state budget this year, underscoring the fiscal significance of the changes.
While calling the plans encouraging, Tokayev warned against achieving targets through unjustified tax pressure or unreasonable burdens on business. He emphasized that major budget gains should come from more effective tax administration, adding that urgent and comprehensive digitalization is essential to unlock this potential.
