Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, who leads the state commission investigating the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane crash near Aktau, announced that the official report on the incident is expected to be published after the New Year.
Bozumbayev emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing, with all circumstances surrounding the tragic event being thoroughly examined, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
On December 25, 2024, an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau. The plane carried 67 people on board - 62 passengers and 5 crew members. The passengers included 37 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakh nationals, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan.
The crash claimed the lives of 38 people. However, 29 passengers survived, including three children.
