Kazakhstan and Türkiye are looking to expand their energy cooperation, with new discussions centered on petrochemicals, renewable energy, and major transport and infrastructure projects linking Central Asia and Europe.
The talks took place during the BEW 2026 International Energy Forum in Baku, where Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov met with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The two sides explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration across a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas production, electricity generation, renewable energy, and emerging low-carbon technologies.
A key topic of discussion was the further development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, a strategic trade corridor connecting Asia and Europe. Officials also examined ways to boost cooperation between the national energy companies of Kazakhstan and Türkiye and advance joint projects that could enhance regional energy security and connectivity.
The ministers reviewed investment opportunities in petrochemicals, coal chemistry, and clean energy initiatives, reflecting both countries’ ambitions to diversify their energy sectors and attract international capital.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Kazakhstan and Türkiye reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their strategic energy partnership and expanding long-term cooperation in areas critical to economic growth and energy transition.
The latest talks build on the rapidly strengthening relationship between the two nations. Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a declaration elevating bilateral ties to an "eternal friendship" and enhanced strategic partnership, signaling a new era of cooperation across multiple sectors.
