Kazakhstan, Türkiye Strike Deal to Simplify International Road Transport Rules

Kazakhstan and Türkiye have reached a significant agreement to streamline the rules governing international road transportation.

The agreements were finalized during a meeting of the Kazakhstan-Türkiye Commission on International Road Transport, held recently in Turkestan, The Caspian Post informs via the Kazakh Transport Ministry.

Among the key outcomes is the decision to abolish the permit system for transit transportation, shifting to a free transit regime. Until formal amendments to the international agreement are enacted, transit permits will be issued without any restrictions.

In a move to further enhance cooperation, Türkiye has also agreed to grant Kazakh transport companies the right to load and unload cargo at Turkish seaports - a privilege that had previously been limited to Turkish firms.

Additionally, both countries committed to digitizing the exchange of permit documents by the end of this year, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce paperwork.

This newly signed protocol is expected to boost transit capacity along the vital China-Europe trade corridor, opening fresh avenues for growth in trade and transportation between the two regions.
