Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan Boost Agricultural Partnership During High-Level Talks in Astana

On the sidelines of the Turkmen president’s state visit to Astana on October 24, the agriculture ministers of both countries held substantive discussions aimed at deepening cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.

Turkmen Minister of Agriculture Charyar Chetiyev met with Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov to review current collaboration and explore new opportunities for expanding trade and joint projects, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.

Saparov highlighted that Turkmenistan remains a priority market for Kazakh agricultural exports and plays an important role in the broader partnership between the two countries. According to Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry, bilateral agricultural trade reached $103 million in the first nine months of this year - a 37.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

Kazakhstan proposed several new mechanisms to accelerate cooperation, including forward financing and the creation of joint ventures. The sides also discussed strengthening collaboration in veterinary services and biosecurity, which would help expand trade in livestock products.

Both ministers emphasized the importance of cooperation between agricultural research institutions - particularly in joint scientific projects, knowledge exchange, and training highly qualified specialists for the agro-industrial sector.

Chetiyev reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to advance joint initiatives, boost trade, and enhance food security through closer agricultural cooperation with Kazakhstan.
