Kazakhstan is preparing to launch a pilot version of “Imam AI” this May-a new artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to provide verified religious guidance online.
Developed by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, the system aims to become a trusted digital source for accurate and consistent religious information, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Imam AI will rely exclusively on a pre-approved database of official materials, including fatwas and curated question-and-answer collections. The goal is to reduce confusion caused by conflicting interpretations that users may encounter online.
The platform will not generate new religious rulings but will instead provide standardized responses aligned with the official position of Kazakhstan’s religious authority.
The service will be available as a free mobile app on both iOS and Android, with possible expansion into other digital platforms in the future.
Imam AI will cover essential religious practices such as prayer, fasting, zakat (annual payment of a certain proportion of personal wealth for charitable and religious purposes), and hajj (Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca). More complex or personal questions will be referred to qualified religious specialists.
The project was built entirely in-house by the Spiritual.
Administration’s digital development team, without external IT contractors. It has undergone internal testing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
All responses will be continuously monitored and updated by experts, with full responsibility for content resting on the Spiritual Administration.
