Kazakh President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev has met with Meirzhan Yussupov, CEO of Kazatomprom company, for a comprehensive briefing on the company’s results through the first nine months of 2025.
Yussupov reviewed Kazatomprom’s operational performance and provided his assessment of global uranium market trends and the evolving nuclear energy landscape, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
He detailed the company’s strategic initiatives designed to elevate Kazakhstan’s influence in the international nuclear sector.
Emphasizing shifting demand drivers, Yussupov pointed out that the surge in artificial intelligence and the growing energy requirements of data centers are exerting upward pressure on global uranium consumption. He cautioned that a structural uranium deficit may emerge in the next decade as countries accelerate reactor construction-especially following 2030.
To bolster Kazakhstan’s resource base, the CEO revealed that Kazatomprom has ramped up geological exploration activities. In 2025 alone, it initiated work at two new sites across six prospecting zones covering nearly 1,000 km².
The discussion also touched on plans to establish a regional council of nuclear energy competence, reflecting Kazakhstan’s ambition to take a leading role in shaping the region’s nuclear expertise and policy.
