A high-level meeting has been held between Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas (KMG) company, and Rovshan Najafov, President of State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), to discuss the current status and future prospects of hydrocarbon transportation along the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
Since the signing of the transit agreement, the companies’ subsidiaries Kazmortransflot and Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) have successfully transported approximately 3.4 million tons of Kazakh oil on a parity basis via the BTC route, underscoring the growing collaboration between the two energy giants, The Caspian Post informs via KMG.
The discussions also covered the progress of four-party memorandums of understanding between KMG, SOCAR, Tatneft, and Uzbekneftegaz, focusing on digital technology integration and industrial safety advancements. Specialists from KMG Engineering and SOCAR continue exchanging knowledge and implement cutting-edge digital solutions in production processes.
Both companies are actively engaged in joint initiatives to enhance occupational health and safety standards, including coordinated emergency response drills designed to manage industrial incidents effectively.
“KazMunayGas is dedicated to deepening its strategic partnership with SOCAR to unlock the full transit potential of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and expand Kazakh oil exports on the global stage. Our collaboration extends beyond transit to digitalization, industrial safety, geological exploration, low-carbon development, joint investment projects, and efforts to protect the Caspian Sea environment,” said Khassenov.
