German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will temporarily suspend its flights to Kazakhstan, with the suspension period set from October 26, 2025, to March 29, 2026.
The airline cited several reasons for this decision, including increased operational costs resulting from detours around Russian airspace amid the ongoing military conflict, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Additionally, Lufthansa is facing a shortage of aircraft due to delayed deliveries of new planes and spare parts, a challenge currently impacting many airlines worldwide. The company also noted a seasonal decline in passenger traffic, a trend observed across the aviation industry.
Despite the suspension, the Kazakh Transport Ministry confirmed that flights to and from Kazakhstan’s key cities, Astana and Almaty, will continue operating during this period at Lufthansa’s request to ensure sufficient passenger loads on these routes.
