Kazakh Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev has expressed Kazakhstan's readiness to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in the areas of nuclear energy and digital innovation.
Sauranbayev made these remarks during the 21st meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
Addressing the commission, Sauranbayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s commitment to sharing expertise with Azerbaijan on the peaceful use of atomic energy and energy regulation.
He also underscored the crucial role of digital solutions in today’s economy, pointing to the fiber-optic cable project across the Caspian Sea as a key initiative that will boost cyber resilience and create a direct digital communication link between the two countries.
In addition, Kazakhstan expressed willingness to collaborate on the development of research and innovation centers focused on artificial intelligence. Sauranbayev described this initiative as “building a digital bridge of trust” between the two nations.
Sauranbayev also noted that Kazakhstan is interested in securing long-term supplies of oil products from Azerbaijan.
He highlighted that a strategic partnership has been established between the two countries in the energy sector, and Kazakhstan highly values the cooperation between SOCAR and KazMunayGas in transporting oil via the Trans-Caspian route.
“Kazakhstan is also keen on signing long-term contracts for the supply of various petroleum products from Azerbaijan,” the minister emphasized.
