Natural Gas Expansion Reaches 10 Villages in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is ramping up its gas infrastructure, bringing cleaner energy to thousands more households across the country.

Over 32,000 residents in 10 rural settlements are set to gain access to natural gas as part of an ongoing nationwide gasification push, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Today, around 13 million people in Kazakhstan already have access to piped natural gas - a figure that continues to grow steadily. The country’s gasification rate is projected to reach 64.3% this year, up from 62.4% in 2025, signaling continued progress in expanding energy access.

A total of 40 gasification projects are currently underway across multiple regions, including Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Mangistau, Turkistan, Ulytau, and Zhetysu. Once completed, these projects will significantly improve living standards in rural communities by providing a more reliable and environmentally friendly energy source.

At the heart of the expansion is the strategic development of major infrastructure. Construction is ongoing on the first phase of the second string of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline - a key artery in the country’s energy network. With a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year, the new line is expected to be commissioned by the end of this year, boosting supply and supporting further gasification efforts.
