The Netherlands continues holding its position as the largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan, with total investments in the country exceeding $125 billion.

Speaking at the second meeting of the Kazakhstan-Netherlands Business Council in Astana, Acting Chair of the Board of Kazakhstan's Foreign Trade Chamber Dana Kassymova highlighted the growing strength of economic ties between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports via DKN World News.

Kassymova noted that a significant share of Dutch investment is linked to participation in Kazakhstan’s biggest energy projects, including Karachaganak and Kashagan fields, two of the country’s most important oil and gas developments in the Caspian region.

More than 700 companies with Dutch participation are currently registered in Kazakhstan, reflecting the deep and diversified nature of bilateral business cooperation.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands continued to expand in 2025, reaching nearly $6 billion. Exports from Kazakhstan increased during the period, while imports recorded a slight decline.

During the business council meeting, participants discussed opportunities to broaden cooperation beyond the energy sector, focusing on industry, machinery manufacturing, agriculture, and transport.
