Kazakhstan is gearing up for a major expansion in e-commerce infrastructure as marketplaces begin implementing projects to build three large fulfillment centers across the country.
Ansar Orazaliyev, Director of the Department for Domestic Trade Development at the Ministry of Trade and Integration, said that the combined area of the new centers in Astana and Almaty will reach an impressive 291,000 square meters, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Orazaliyev noted that Kazakhstan approved its first National Standard for fulfillment centers on November 4, 2025. The standard, which takes effect on January 1, 2026, regulates not only the storage but also the sale of goods-bringing local practices closer to global e-commerce norms and paving the way for increased investment.
He added that the national e-commerce operator QazPost JSC is expanding its international cooperation through joint projects with YTO Express and JD.com. These initiatives include building a new distribution center in the Almaty region capable of processing international e-commerce shipments and launching a Kazakh-Russian version of JD.com tailored for Central Asia and CIS markets.
