Seven Workers Trapped in Kazakhstan Mine Shaft; Rescue Efforts Underway

Seven workers are trapped inside an underground shaft at the Zhomart mine in the Ulytau region of Kazakhstan, according to the country's Emergency Situations Ministry.

There has no information so far on the condition of those trapped, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

The incident occurred at around 4:50pm local time 150km away from Zhezkazgan town.

The personnel of the Ulytau and Karaganda regions’ emergency situations ministries, consisting of canine teams, specialists from the Disaster Medicine Center and psychologists, left for the incident site.

Operations centers have been set up at the Command Center of the Emergency Situations Ministry and the Emergency Situations Department.
