Kazakhstan and South Korea are exploring closer collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, opening doors for South Korean companies to participate in Kazakhstan’s nuclear power infrastructure.
Chairman of the Kazakh Nuclear Energy Agency Almassadam Satkaliyev met with South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan to discuss strategic partnership and practical projects, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The discussions focused on:
Involvement of South Korean companies in nuclear power development
Knowledge exchange on the nuclear fuel cycle, scientific research, and staff training
Ensuring nuclear and radiation safety following international standards
Strengthening regulatory cooperation in the nuclear sector
Boosting bilateral energy ties
The South Korean minister highlighted the high potential for joint initiatives and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to continued constructive cooperation with Kazakhstan.
The talks follow recent meetings between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and special envoy of President Lee Jae Myung, signaling growing momentum in energy and technological partnerships between the two nations.
