Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are stepping up efforts to deepen cooperation in the regional power sector, with a focus on expanding collaboration within the Unified Energy System of Central Asia.
The initiative took center stage during talks between Tajik Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Manuchehr Safarzoda and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Energy Minister Sungat Yesimkhanov, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Both sides explored new opportunities to enhance coordination across the region’s interconnected power grid - a move seen as a key for boosting energy security and system reliability.
Officials emphasized that closer integration could:
Improve stability of electricity supply
Support sustainable and efficient use of energy resources
Drive economic growth across Central Asia
Joint projects and shared expertise
The discussions also highlighted the potential for joint industrial energy projects and deeper knowledge exchange, particularly in modern energy management and sustainability practices.
By pooling expertise and aligning strategies, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan aim to unlock new efficiencies while meeting growing regional demand.
The push comes amid broader diplomatic efforts by Tajikistan to expand international partnerships, including ongoing dialogue with India on bilateral cooperation.
As Central Asia continues to modernize its energy infrastructure, stronger coordination between key players like Tajikistan and Kazakhstan could play a decisive role in shaping a more resilient and interconnected regional power system.
