The network of seismic stations of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan registered an earthquake on Sunday, May 11, at 13:09 Astana time, The Caspian Post reports citing the Zakon.kz .

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the tremors was located in China, 276 kilometers south of Almaty. The coordinates of the epicenter are 40.859 degrees north latitude and 78.004 degrees east longitude, the depth of the source is 10 kilometers.

The magnitude of the earthquake was MPV 5.0, energy class - 10.7.

According to estimates, seismic activity was not felt on the territory of Kazakhstan.
