Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a law ratifying an intergovernmental agreement with Turkmenistan on cooperation in the fight against crime.
The agreement, originally signed on October 10, 2024, in Ashgabat, establishes a legal framework for closer coordination between the two countries’ law enforcement bodies, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
It covers a broad range of modern security challenges, including:
organized crime, terrorism, and extremism
corruption and economic crimes
cybercrime and IT-related offenses
other violations that may be jointly defined in the future.
Kazakhstan already maintains similar agreements with more than 20 countries. The new partnership with Turkmenistan aims to strengthen regional security and enhance the effectiveness of joint operations between the two states’ security agencies.
