Kazakhstan has hosted the International Forum of the Turkic Judicial Training Network in Astana, marking the 10th anniversary of the country’s Supreme Judicial Council.
The event focused on human rights protection and effective justice, balancing national traditions with international standards, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Delegations from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan attended, alongside government officials, judges, parliamentarians, scholars, legal professionals, and international experts. The forum provided a platform to discuss modern approaches to training, selecting, and appointing judges.
Chingiz Asgarov, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court, highlighted the importance of collaboration among Turkic states in judicial training, emphasizing that knowledge exchange strengthens regional judicial systems. He recalled Azerbaijan’s initiative to create the Conference of Supreme Courts of Turkic States, reinforced by a declaration signed in Shusha two years ago.
Yerlan Aitzhanov, member of Kazakhstan’s Supreme Judicial Council, noted that the forum strengthened trust and partnerships among the judicial bodies of participating countries, fostering both professional and personal connections that support open and constructive dialogue.
Participants stressed the need for regular experience sharing, harmonized educational standards, and joint initiatives under the Turkic Judicial Training Network, which was established in 2022 to enhance cooperation among judicial training institutions of Turkic states. Kazakhstan currently chairs the network with the involvement of its Academy of Justice and the Academy of Law Enforcement under the General Prosecutor’s Office.
