The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution endorsing Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative, “On World Unity for Just Peace, Harmony, and Development” in a major diplomatic milestone.
Unveiled during Kazakhstan's 2024 chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and approved at the “SCO Plus” Summit in Astana, the initiative calls for building a more equitable, inclusive, and multipolar world order, while emphasizing the UN’s pivotal coordinating role, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
The formal UN resolution, titled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” signals wide international backing for the proposal. It champions themes of global solidarity, equal development opportunities, and the values of mutual trust, dialogue, and partnership.
This development not only highlights Kazakhstan’s emergence as a dynamic middle power with impactful global proposals, but also amplifies the SCO’s expanding influence as a vital regional player shaping international agendas.
