Children’s Ski School Opens in Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul

A new children’s ski school has officially opened in the village of Ak-Bulak in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul region, marking a major step in developing alpine skiing and youth sports in the area.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, who highlighted the strategic role of the school in providing systematic training for children and adolescents, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening human capital in winter sports, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

“The new ski school will serve as a key platform for training future athletes and professional instructors who will be in demand at the country’s growing ski resorts. This is an investment in human capital, youth employment, and sustainable regional development,” Baisalov said.

During the visit, officials also met with youth sports school representatives, coaches, and specialists to discuss logistical support, coach development, and increasing youth participation in sports.

The discussions outlined key priorities for the future, including modernizing sports infrastructure, supporting coaching staff, and expanding a regional network of youth sports schools.

The Ak-Bulak ski school is expected to play a vital role in building a sustainable athlete training system and advancing winter sports in the Issyk-Kul region.
