Japan, Kyrgyzstan Expand Partnership on Labor Migration

As part of his visit to Japan, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Ravshan Sabirov held a meeting with Japanese State Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Niki Hirobumi.

Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Japan, Erkinbek Osoev also participated at the meeting, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Minister Sabirov, emphasizing the importance of the Memorandum of Cooperation on employment under the "Specified Skilled Worker 1 and 2" visa categories, signed in 2023, informed the Japanese side about the beginning of the registration of applicants who expressed their willingness to work in Japan. Highlighting the interest of the younger generation in international internships, he also proposed to consider expanding the areas for internships and employment. In addition, the Minister expressed the Kyrgyz side's interest in cooperation in the fields of information technology, innovation, and inter-university exchanges.

In response, State Minister Niki Hirobumi, noting the high human potential and shared values of the two nations, expressed readiness to cooperate in the field of employment and human resources. He emphasized the importance of fruitful collaboration between the Ministries for the further strengthening of bilateral relations.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain close contact and continue cooperation in the field of labor migration.
