Kyrgyz Former National Security Chief to Remain Under State Protection

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has instructed authorities to ensure continued security protection for former national security chief Kamchybek Tashiev following his recent dismissal.

The issue was addressed by Syrgak Berdikozhoev, newly appointed head of the State Committee for National Security under the president, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

He commented on public concerns voiced on social media regarding Tashiev’s safety, assuring that the matter is being handled by relevant state bodies.

“President Japarov has given the necessary instructions. Kamchybek Tashiev was previously a protected individual, and personal security measures will continue in accordance with established procedures,” Berdikozhoev said.

On February 10, Japarov signed a decree dismissing Tashiev from his posts as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the State Committee for National Security, citing the need to prevent division in society. Tashiev later stated that he learned of his dismissal while undergoing a scheduled check-up in Germany following heart surgery.

His resignation was followed by a broader restructuring of Kyrgyzstan’s security bloc. Deputy heads of the State Committee for National Security were removed, the Border Service was separated from the committee’s structure, and a new State Committee for National Security was established on the basis of the former Ninth Service, reporting directly to the president.

On February 11, Syrgak Berdikozhoev was officially appointed head of the State Committee for National Security under the president.
