The World Organization of Writers (WOW) has honored Kyrgyzstan’s national writer Sultan Raev with a gold medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of world literature.
Raev is the first representative of Kyrgyz literature to receive this distinguished international accolade, marking a historic milestone for the country’s literary community, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
A highly respected author, Raev’s works have been translated into multiple languages and have earned him several international awards. Since 2022, he has served as the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), further cementing his influence in the literary and cultural spheres.
As stipulated in WOW’s charter, recipients of the gold medal are granted membership in the organization’s Supreme Literary Council, a body dedicated to fostering global literary cooperation and advancing spiritual and moral values.
Founded on February 2, 2023, at the 6th Eurasian Literary Festival "LIFT" in Egypt, WOW operates from its headquarters in Moscow under the leadership of its president, poet Margarita Al. The organization aims to promote literary collaboration across nations and cultures, uniting writers in their shared pursuit of artistic excellence and cultural enrichment.
Raev’s recognition by WOW not only highlights his personal achievements but also shines a spotlight on Kyrgyzstan’s rich literary heritage on the world stage.
