The Kyrgyz Spiritual Directorate of Muslims has announced that twenty-five imams (Muslim religious leader) from across Kyrgyzstan departed for Medina, Saudi Arabia, to study the Arabic language and enhance their understanding of Islamic culture.
The educational mission, organized by the Directorate, includes religious leaders from all regions of the country, The Caspian Post reports per Kyrgyz media.
While in Medina, participants will undertake intensive Arabic language courses, visit historic Islamic sites, and perform the minor pilgrimage (Umrah), enriching both their spiritual and academic experience.
The initiative forms part of a broader program aimed at strengthening the professional qualifications of Kyrgyz imams and advancing the role of Islamic education and cultural literacy in the country.
“The project is designed to deepen the knowledge base of our clergy, improve language skills vital for interpreting religious texts, and strengthen ties with the heart of the Islamic world,” the Directorate said.
This educational endeavor underscores Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to nurturing a well-informed and culturally rooted religious leadership, aligned with national values and global Islamic traditions.
