Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a decree establishing the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Arab Republic of Egypt, marking a new step in expanding the country’s diplomatic presence abroad.
The new embassy will be located in Cairo, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
According to the document, the decision aims to further strengthen political dialogue and develop trade, economic, investment, scientific, educational, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Egypt.
The decree instructs the Cabinet of Ministers to increase the staffing level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by five positions and to ensure the necessary organizational and financial support for the embassy’s operations. The government is also tasked with bringing its decisions into line with the presidential decree.
The document will come into force on January 1, 2026.
The opening of the embassy will enable the provision of consular services to around 3,000 Kyrgyz citizens living in Egypt and neighboring North African countries. It is also expected to support the implementation of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy in Africa, contribute to the diversification of international relations, and expand the country’s diplomatic footprint on the continent.
