Kyrgyz wrestler Kaiyrgul Sharshebaeva will compete for a bronze medal at the U20 World Wrestling Championships taking place in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Sharshibaeva is competing in the 72 kg weight category, having begun her campaign from the round of 16, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
In her opening bout, she secured a victory over her Ukrainian opponent, but was later defeated in the quarterfinals by an Indian wrestler. Entering the repechage, Sharshibaeva delivered a dominant performance, claiming a technical win (12:2) against a Bulgarian rival.
She will step onto the mat to contest the bronze medal match, where she will face an athlete from the US.
