Kyrgyzstan Brings Back Suspect in Extremism Case

The officers of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security have brought back a citizen suspected of extremism following a coordinated international operation.

The suspect, identified as A.T., was detained in a foreign country with the cooperation of international partners after being placed on a global wanted list for extremist activity, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Investigators say the 37-year-old native of the southern city had been actively spreading extremist content through social media and messaging apps, as well as promoting radical ideology linked to banned organizations.

Following his return, the suspect was placed in a pre-trial detention facility under the State Committee for National Security, where investigative and operational procedures are currently underway.

Officials stressed that the promotion of terrorism is not freedom of expression, but a criminal offense under national law.

Authorities also urged citizens to remain vigilant and to seek religious knowledge only from verified and reliable sources, warning against online recruitment attempts by radical groups and extremist networks.
