Kyrgyzstan Halts Citizenship for Russians, Expert Warns of Total Freeze

Mikhail Zhukhovitsky, a consultant on Kyrgyzstan’s passport and migration policy has stated that Russian citizens can no longer obtain Kyrgyz citizenship, and all applications submitted after January 24, have been effectively frozen.

Zhukhovitsky urged Russians to abandon any expectation of acquiring Kyrgyz citizenship, stating that the process has been completely shut down, regardless of eligibility or payment, The Caspian Post reports, citing the consultant's Telegram channel.

“Obtaining Kyrgyz citizenship is now impossible. No amount of money will help. Under no conditions,” Zhukhovitsky wrote. “There is a ruthless collection of upfront payments, and all parties involved-intermediaries, fixers, even officials-know that the outcome is guaranteed to be a scam.”

Zhukhovitsky further alleged that since January 2025, not a single application has been approved by either the State Committee for National Security or the Ministry of Internal Affairs, signaling an unofficial but absolute halt to the process.
