Kyrgyzstan Honors WWII Veterans with Special Payments

Only eight veterans of the Great Patriotic War remain in Kyrgyzstan.

The surviving veterans live across different regions of the country: 4 in Bishkek, 2 in Chuy Region, 1 in Jalal-Abad Region and 1 in Naryn Region, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

In addition, there are also 10 blockade survivors and 6 former concentration camp prisoners still living in the country.

Each of them will receive a payment of 200,000 soms from the Presidential Fund as a sign of respect and support.

The assistance is part of ongoing efforts to honor the memory and sacrifice of World War II veterans, whose numbers are rapidly declining each year.
