Kyrgyzstan is intensifying diplomatic talks with the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union in an effort to shield its financial sector from Western secondary sanctions.
Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev confirmed that Bishkek is holding direct consultations with Western officials and international partners, The Caspian Post reports via Vesti.kg.
“We maintain constant contact with our foreign partners and expect a positive outcome,” Kasymaliev said.
The Kyrgyz government argues that the current restrictions are “unfair,” insisting there is no evidence of systematic violations of the sanctions regime by the country’s financial institutions.
The diplomatic push follows earlier remarks by President Sadyr Japarov, who told the UN General Assembly in 2025 that financial pressure on Kyrgyzstan amounted to interference in domestic affairs and posed obstacles to the development of the region’s young economy.
