As part of a working trip to Chui Oblast, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration Adylbek Kasymaliev took part in a solemn ceremony of laying a capsule at the site of construction of a new solar power plant in Kemin region.
Speaking to the audience, Kasymaliev emphasized that the construction of the solar power plant is an important step towards energy independence and sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Cabinet said, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
He noted that the country continues to use the legacy of the Soviet era - hydroelectric power plants, but also seeks to introduce modern, environmentally friendly energy sources.
“Our country's population has surpassed 7 million, new large enterprises are being launched, and the need for electricity is growing exponentially. That is why we are starting the construction of this solar power plant, opening the way to a world of clean energy using sunlight. This event confirms our responsibility to the planet, the need to preserve nature and reasonable use of resources,” the head of the Cabinet emphasized.
Adylbek Kasymaliev expressed gratitude to the Chinese partners, Shaanxi provincial government and investors for their contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries.
He also recalled other large-scale projects in the energy sector, such as the construction of Kambarata HPP-1, Kulanak HPP, Bala-Saruu HPP and dozens of other small HPPs.
At the end of the event, Adylbek Kasymaliev wished success to the builders and power engineers in the implementation of the project and expressed confidence in its successful completion.
The solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW, annual output of 155 million kW⋅h, will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 140 thousand tons and coal consumption by 50 thousand tons per year and create about 500 jobs during its construction.
