Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Sagynbaev has held a meeting with Syed Sadiq, Head of UN Women Kyrgyzstan Country Office, to discuss deepening cooperation in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.
According to the ministry, the two sides focused on integrating gender policy principles into national programs and strategies, as well as expanding women’s participation in decision-making at all levels, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Sagynbaev highlighted that promoting women’s rights, preventing discrimination, and protecting against all forms of violence remain key priorities for the ministry. He noted that President Sadyr Japarov’s “zero tolerance for violence” policy has given new momentum to combating gender-based violence nationwide.
To further enhance cooperation, the minister proposed developing joint initiatives-including training for social protection, law enforcement, and healthcare specialists in gender-sensitive approaches, awareness campaigns, and programs supporting women’s economic independence and leadership development, particularly for women with disabilities.
Sagynbaev also stressed the need for close coordination among government bodies, local authorities, and social services to build an effective system for preventing and responding to violence.
In response, Sadiq expressed gratitude for the constructive dialogue and underlined the importance of clearly defining key joint priorities under the existing memorandum of cooperation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men across Kyrgyzstan.
