Kyrgyzstan Tightens Border Health Controls Over Nipah Risk

Kyrgyzstan has strengthened sanitary and quarantine controls amid the risk of importing the Nipah virus.

The enhanced preventive measures are in place at Manas International Airport, with special attention paid to passengers arriving from India, where infections have been reported, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Deputy Health Minister Ryspek Sydygaliev inspected the organization of sanitary screening on the Delhi-Bishkek flight, stressing the importance of early detection of potential infection symptoms.

On February 1, a total of 158 passengers arrived from India. All underwent temperature checks, and no elevated readings or epidemiologically dangerous cases were identified.

The Kyrgyz Health Ministry emphasized that any passenger with a body temperature above 37.5°C would be immediately isolated and provided with medical assistance. Authorities said the epidemiological situation in the country remains stable, adding that enhanced preventive measures will continue.
