Mudflow Risk Looms Over Kyrgyz Mountains Amid July Storm Warning

Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a weather alert warning of possible mudflows and rising river levels in the mountainous and foothill regions of Issyk-Kul and Naryn, with heavy rainfall expected between July 15 and 16.

The unstable weather conditions pose a significant risk of flash floods and mudslides in vulnerable areas, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

As a precaution, local authorities and residents are urged to clear irrigation ditches and mudflow channels, and take preventive safety measures to mitigate potential damage.

The ministry has also advised the public to avoid trips to mountainous areas during the forecasted period and instead seek safer areas for rest and recreation.
