Voting abroad for Kyrgyzstan’s early parliamentary elections has officially wrapped up, marking one of the most active overseas election cycles in the country’s history.
This year, a record 100 polling stations operated in 89 cities across 34 countries, enabling thousands of Kyrgyz citizens to participate, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Due to time zone differences, stations closed at different times, with the final six - located in Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco - shutting their doors last.
In total, 26,066 Kyrgyz people voted abroad, a sharp rise from just 9,826 during the 2021 parliamentary elections. Officials noted that the process abroad was calm, well-organized, and fully in line with national legislation, with voters showing strong civic engagement.
The foreign ministry coordinated polling stations around the clock to ensure smooth voting and timely support for citizens.
Nationwide, 4.29 million people were included on the voter list, and 2,492 polling stations operated across Kyrgyzstan. Final election results are expected to be announced by December 14.
