Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan Launch Bilateral Water Management Commission to Boost Investment, Regional Cooperation

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have officially launched a joint commission to manage shared water resources, marking a major step in regional cooperation and investment readiness.

The Kyrgyz-Tajik Water Management Commission, established to improve sustainable water use, modernize infrastructure, and coordinate emergency responses, held its first meeting in Dushanbe, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The commission will harmonize water allocation at hydro-technical facilities, exchange hydrological data, and attract funding for infrastructure projects-offering a more transparent and predictable environment for international investors. Co-chaired by representatives from both countries and functioning on a parity basis, the commission aims to meet at least twice a year, alternating between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Experts say this initiative strengthens energy and agricultural security, enhances economic resilience, and signals a new era of strategic partnership in Central Asia.
