Ukraine’s State Emergency Service has announced that Russian forces launched a series of guided aerial bomb strikes on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on September 23 morning, marking the second consecutive morning of heavy attacks on civilian infrastructure.
“Once again, Zaporizhzhia is under massive attack. Civilian infrastructure and residential homes have been hit,” said Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, in a Telegram post, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
The airstrikes targeted a private residential area in the regional capital, destroying at least one home and causing blast damage to neighboring buildings. A fire erupted at the site of the attack, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Rescue teams are actively working to extinguish the fire and carry out search-and-rescue operations. Early reports suggest that at least one person may be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building. The number of casualties remains unclear as officials continue making efforts.
“All emergency units in the city are currently operating at the scene to manage the aftermath of the strike,” authorities confirmed.
