The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has suspended cargo operations after Ukrainian drones carried out an attack that damaged the administrative building of its marine terminal near the Russian port city of Novorossiysk.
The CPC press service confirmed that the strike caused structural damage but did not result in any injuries, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
“In the wake of the overnight UAV attack on the municipality of Novorossiysk, the administrative building of the CPC Marine Terminal was struck by fragments from the drone’s warhead. The main control center of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, located in Yuzhnaya Ozereevka, oversees operations along the entire Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system in Russia and Kazakhstan,” the consortium said in a statement.
CPC added that personnel were evacuated to shelters immediately after the air-raid siren was sounded, preventing casualties.
The attack comes amid reports from Ukrainian media that the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine targeted infrastructure in Novorossiysk, damaging an oil terminal and a Project 1171 landing ship during the same overnight drone offensive.
The Novorossiysk area is home to critical Russian oil export infrastructure, and recent Ukrainian strikes have sought to disrupt both military and energy facilities in the Black Sea region.
