A Russian drone strike has hit residential areas in Ukraine's Odesa city, damaging civilian infrastructure and sparking multiple fires across the southern Ukrainian port city.
Serhii Lysak, head of the regional military administration, said that emergency crews responded to damage affecting residential buildings, commercial facilities and recreational sites, The Caspian Post reports via Lysak's message.
High-Rise Apartment Damaged
A high-rise apartment building was struck during the attack, with an upper-floor apartment sustaining damage. Authorities said that no fire broke out inside the living space, but structural assessments are ongoing and nearby apartments are being inspected for safety.
Fires were also reported at infrastructure and commercial facilities in several districts. Emergency services worked to contain the blazes and secure affected areas.
Officials said that information about potential casualties was still being clarified. An air raid alert remained in effect, and residents were urged to stay in shelters.
Broader Wave of Attacks
The strike comes amid intensified attacks on Ukraine’s energy system. On the same day, Russian forces reportedly targeted a thermal power plant operated by DTEK, causing significant equipment damage. The company described the incident as part of a continuing pattern of strikes on power infrastructure since late 2025.
Ukrainian authorities said Russia carried out a large-scale combined assault across multiple regions, using ballistic missiles and strike drones. Kyiv and Dnipro were also among the reported targets, with officials citing the use of dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones.
As aerial attacks escalate, concerns are growing over further damage to civilian infrastructure and energy supplies amid the ongoing conflict.
