A grenade explosion on a train in Ovruch, Ukraine's Zhytomyr has left four people dead and at least 12 others injured.
The blast occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. (GMT+3) on October 24, as officers from the State Border Guard Service were conducting routine document checks on passengers at a diesel train platform, The Caspian Post reports, citing Ukrainian media.
Officials reported that a 23-year-old man from Kharkiv, who was reportedly wanted by authorities, detonated the grenade, causing the deadly explosion.
Among those killed were three women aged 29, 58, and 82 from the Korosten region, as well as a border guard. The assailant also died in the blast.
By early afternoon, authorities confirmed that 12 additional passengers were receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the explosion. The National Police of Ukraine have launched an investigation into the incident.
The explosion has left the local community in shock, with officials reviewing and strengthening security measures at train stations across the region to prevent similar incidents.
